Website Pre-Launch Checklist
Easy to Navigate Website
Is the navigation on your site consistent and laid out in a fashion for your customers to easily find what they are looking for? Does your website have proper categorization using broader categories with sub-categories as opposed to many detailed categories? The way customers read websites is in an upside down "L" format. Your website navigation should be across the top either over or under the website header image, or down the left side column.
Easy to Experience
Is your website design utilizing visually appealing language, content, and design aspects? If not your website most likely has a high bounce rate. A high bounce rate is when a visitor to your website immediately backs out without visiting another page besides the home page. Your potential customer makes their decision about your company in the first few seconds of landing on your website. No amount of SEO traffic to your site can increase your sales if the potential customer has already made their decision about your company after seeing a poorly designed homepage.
Website Designed With SEO in Mind
Have you done proper keyword research and defined certain keywords to target your customer base, and what they are searching for? Does your website have search engine friendly URLS that are easily indexed by search engines? Are you using back links to increase traffic to your website? Back links are websites that link to your site, and include links from web directories, links from websites of companies you're affiliated with, links from sites that feel their visitors would benefit from the information on your site, links from ad space you purchase from other sites, and links from social media outlets.
Social Media Integration into Your Website
Are you taking advantage of using social media to promote your website and keep your visitors and customers up-to-date with special deals, new products, events, and news about your business? Social media can be used in two different ways. It can be used to engage your website visitors and keep them informed with what's going on, and can also be used to reach new customers and direct traffic to your website.
An Easy to Review and Monitor Website
Do you have proper analytics setup on your website? With good analytics you can closely monitor your website traffic in real time and see what is working. This is a good place to monitor your bounce rate, see how many unique visitors your site is getting, what location they are coming from, and what keywords they used to find you.
An Easy to Edit Website
Does your website have a good content management system? We live in a fast paced world where everything changes quickly. So when you need a price point or paragraph changed on your website, you don't want to have to wait for your website developer to make the changes. This is where a good content management system can be vital. It allows you to quickly go in and make the changes you need, when you need them.
A Website that Converts to Phone Calls
Does your website have proper search engine optimization and an appealing look and feel, and you're still not getting calls? This could possibly be due to not having your phone number visible enough on the home page of your website. Is your phone number clearly noticeable on the home page? It's good to have a contact page as well, but the sooner you can get your potential customer on the phone and interacting the better. Also, increasingly more and more people are using email as their main form of communication, and this makes having an "email contact" or "request a quote" module in the side column of your website a good idea.
An Informative Website to the visitor
First off you want your products or services pages to be informative, but when I say an informative website I mean, giving your visitor a reason to stay for awhile or come back. A great way to do this, is with a well planned marketing blog. You become an informative website that people interested in your product or service keep coming back to. This gives you more chance to convert them into new purchases of your products or services. A marketing blog also targets new visitors to your website from the search engines. It does this by increasing the amount of keywords on your website that are relevant to your business. Here is an example of what I mean about a well thought out marketing blog using keywords. I set out when writing this article to first be informative to you, our potential customer. I wanted to give you some good information about what it takes to launch a good website whether you do business with us or not, but I was also focusing on a certain keyword in this article. We build websites so a keyword that is important to us is "Websites" and I was able to use that keyword 38 times so far. This will help us in the search engines and could help you as well if you develop a plan for using a marketing blog in your site.
If you need help writing this type of content we offer it as a service, but pricing is dependent upon what your specific needs are. Give us a call at 813-468-3990 or 813-449-1429 so we can talk about how we can help you.
